Join us on April 30, 2022 @ 8:00 am, for the 30th anniversary of the

El Segundo PTA Run for Education 5K | 10K!

Entering its 30th year, the Run For Education is a major fundraiser for El Segundo’s K-12 public schools and one of the more unique USATF certified 5k/10k courses in Southern California. Hosted by El Segundo’s PTA Council, the Run For Education features a moderate coastal climate and a tour of downtown El Segundo and its local residential neighborhoods. It’s a true sampling of small-town Americana.

General Volunteer

Thank you for your support of the Big 5 PTA Run for Education. It's your volunteering efforts that help make this such a great event. Feel free to choose one or multiple slots to help with The Run.

We need assistance with tasks before the race:

  • Assisting runners with registration and t-shirt/packet pickup the two days before the event - April 25h & 26th.

We need many volunteers on race day:

  • Helping to make the Run course take shape and come alive as part of the Race Morning setup crew

  • Assist our race day registrants and our expo vendors during the setup

  • Center Street Water Station setup and water distribution during the Run

  • Finish Line water and goodie bag distribution - cheer on those finishers!

  • Assistance with awards presentations

  • And the all-important event tear-down and clean-up.

There are many opportunities to help AND participate in the Run itself. Check the shift times. You can help the days before or with setup or tasks after the Run.

Please get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteer@ESRun4Education.com with any questions.

Corner Monitor

Volunteers willing to MONITOR A STREET INTERSECTION on the Run course while the streets are closed - an hour before and during the run.

What does a corner monitor do?

  • Cheer loudly for the runners as they go by your corner!

    Oh, and...

  • ESPD mandates that we have at least one person on duty at EVERY intersection of the closed course to ensure runner safety and assist any residents attempting to exit the closed course area. This person must remain at the corner from 7 am setup time until ESPD drives by and releases that corner after all runners are finished (approximately 9:30-10 am).

Before the race, all corner monitors will be given detailed information on their assignment and issued a brightly colored shirt to be worn at your post on race day.

Only ONE PERSON is required at most corners. However, if you would like to take on this task with a friend, please sign up and email us to request a second slot added to your corner.

Please get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteer@ESRun4Education.com with any questions.
