This year’s event gives participants the opportunity to design their own Run course and
choose any day within our event window to time their run. Where will you be August 28
– September 7th ? Will your course be flat or hilly? Will it be through the woods or on the
city streets? The great thing about a Virtual event is that runners don’t need to be in El
Segundo to participate in this essential school fundraiser. Are you a grandparent in
New York? Are you an Aunt in Arkansas? Are you an ESHS graduate exploring the
world? Anyone, anywhere can register for the 2020 Virtual Run and help to support our

Simply Register for the event, decide on your course, print your race bib, start your
timer and run your race. Once you finish your run, log into our registration site and
record your time. That’s it. Well, we’d love it if you also posted some pictures of your
Run to your social media sites and tagged our event. Maybe your post will inspire
someone else to join in the fun this year and support the El Segundo Schools.

While you can run this year’s event anywhere, if you are in El Segundo you may want to
follow our usual Run course. Just be extra careful since this year the course will not be
closed to traffic. As one of the more unique USA Track & Field certified road courses in
Southern California the Run for Education features a moderate coastal climate and a
tour of downtown El Segundo, as well as, its neighborhoods and schools.
The 5K Run/Walk is an easy-to-moderate hill course through local neighborhoods while
the 10K Run offers up a 2nd loop around El Segundo.

to take appropriate safety precautions while participating. Please be sure to follow all
traffic laws when running near roadways. Please also be conscious of current social
distancing protocols and have a mask with you at all times while out running.

Volunteers are critical to the success of the Big 5 Sporting Goods El Segundo Run for
Education! Without the support of our community to help our event, we would not be
able to raise the funds we do to support our local schools.  If you cannot participate in
the event, then volunteering is a great way to support our schools.  This year, as a
virtual event, we do not need as many volunteers, but we do still need help with t-shirt
pickup and mailing on a few dates. Please click on our VOLUNTEER link to select a
time slot to help. Thank you for supporting our students! If you have any questions,
please reach out to volunteer@esrun4education.com.

Donations to the Run for Education, sponsored by the El Segundo Council of Parents and Teachers, are tax deductible.
